We love the Olive Cart. If you haven't made your taste buds wake up this season with something new and exciting , ya gotta try this place. Its amazing how your taste buds will react to things that pair well. Just like wine, cheese, and meats can be paired properly, so can other palette pleasers, like olive oil and balsamic vineagrs. You get to do the taste tests.

Our FISH (Favorites In South Haven) favorite this week is Captain Lou's' ...right across the street from us and we have VIP passes for our guests. The food is pretty awesome and you can't beat sitting on the river watching the boats go by. Stop in there whenever you are in town. We love it!!!

We are within walking distance to everything but when you hop on a bike, its a whole new perspective. Lake Michigan looks like a big beautiful blue ocean but the good news gets even better. It doesn't have any salt, no sea critters, and no oil. So, you have to come and wiggle your toes in the sand, watch an amazing sunset, or search for beach glass on the "Best Beach & Shoreline" for 2011.

Snowmobiling in South Haven, MI

OK so the tempurature WAS in the low 20's and we were able to grab a day to play in the snow before this early melt came along. I was excited to find that we can hop on our snowmobiles and jump on the Ka-Haven trail with the starting point being right here at the Inn at the Park B&B. We ended up in Edwardsburg and had lunch at the famous Lunkers Restaurant.

What was so amazing is that our ride was like many we used to take "Up North". We ran our sleds along US 12 on the marked trail and not only was it a great day but an amazing ride.

Here we are all bundled up and, let me remind you, we left from the parking lot at the Inn right here in South Haven, MI.

WOW...we had so much fun at the Ice Breakers Festival. The weather was perfect. The town was abuzz with people and we didn't have to work! We tasted chili, drank mini martinis on outside decks and ended our day of afternoon fun with a great glass of wine at the Channel Wine Bar. I don't have their website yet but call us at the Inn and I will give you my FREE review of a great place to visit. Do you think I can get a glass of wine for this promo??

Snow, you say??? Isn't that an answer to pray? The last time I looked at my drivers license it said " Winter Wonderland"...well it also told me how old I was and how much I weighed but I didn't let that depress me . I looked outside instead and danced at the thought of lots of snow. Winter Festival this weekend and snowmobilers can come to South Haven Michigan and sled all over town. Hey if this keeps up we might be able to do dog sled races!

South Haven Michigan is known for its great festivals, and our personal favorite is right around the corner. The South Haven Ice Breakers 2011 Winter Festival is the first weekend of February 4-6. There are numerous ice sculptures being done all along our main street downtown USA, and Mother Nature's sculpting out on the pier! There are chili cook-offs at most restaurants, and Foundry Hall is the host for the amateur chili cook-off's...which is really crazy fun.

The Yacht Club opens its doors... and its deck... to the public and has a cook-out on the deck, which is on the Black River, with mini-martini's and other cocktail concoctions for the Festival. Here is the EVENT CALENDAR.

Can you come and play? No place to stay, you say? I'll bet I can come up with a solution to the problem. Check us out. We are cozy, warm, and just 3 blocks from all the action.

Winter Wonderland

Its a WINTER WONDERLAND out there. OMG, just a week ago it was still Fall and now it is Winter... But we are so excited since we will have a White Christmas and a Curry & Ives back drop all complete when you snuggle away at our Michigan Bed & Breakfast. The fires are glowing and toasting up our suites. Sitting in the breakfast room as you watch the snow fall is like a scene from "It's a Wonderful Life ", and the only thing missing is Jimmy Stewart. Well, here is a bit of Jimmy...and we agree, it IS a wonderful life here is South Haven, Michigan USA!

Our Favorite Fall Treat

Nothing says Fall like pumpkins and apples. We have the BEST pumpkin recipe that we make and serve with apple slices at our South Haven Bed and Breakfast. Try it. It's so easy and SO good!

1 package (8oz) cream cheese softened

2 cups powdered sugar

2 cups canned pumpkin

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

½ teaspoon ground ginger

Beat cream cheese and sugar at medium speed until smooth

Add pumpkin, cinnamon, and ginger, beating well.

Cover and chill. Serve with apple slices

ENJOY!!!

Friends Good Will Tall Ship Tour

I heard the first Robin today and can see signs of my daffodils sprouting. It's amazing to see the changes when you stop and take the time to notice. Come and take the time to notice. We are bragging about 50 degree sunshine this week...and here is a picture of what is SOON to come.

Oh my gosh...it is as beautiful as the Caribbean ocean but its as white as snow..oh it IS snow! We are loving it because we are the Winter Wonderland and we are living up to our name.

Its been slow here at the Inn but it gives us time to reflect on how to improve everything we do and also to just enjoy the slower pace.

I have been experimenting with new recipes and the guests staying here have been the test kitchen guineas and letting me know if its a thumbs up or not. I haven't gotten a thumb's down yet so that means we are cooking on the front burner and cooking with gas. The most recent trial-run breakfast was "eggs in purgatory" and our guests all raved about the unique tastes that were an unexpected breakfast pleasure. You can stop by for a taste of your own or email us and we will respond with the recipe. I love my job!

Oh, and I took this photo today. I'm thinking Nation Geographic will be calling soon because of my photo talents...ya think???

New Year's Eve plans

Why not come to South Haven and fall in love all over again. We are doing everything we can to make NYE 2009 one filled with memories and romance.

There are some great dining choices in town and we are picking up the appetizer. Michigan Theatre is still the same price it was back in the 80's and they throw in the popcorn. We are putting champagne and Inn at the Park glasses in all of the rooms so you can celebrate and toast together in front of the fireplace or in the Jacuzzi. It sure sounds fun to me!

Holiday Fun

No matter what the weather here in SH, we seem to find things to do. Our favorite is sipping a glass of Merlot by the fire and chatting with guests. Some just stop by and others plan way ahead.

The skating rink is open and and there is a holiday bustle going on in town. The Christmas lights adorn the shops and a very unique falling star display hangs over the street as you drive into downtown. The most recent storm left a nice covering of white stuff but the rain has washed it all away. It doesn't reallyt matter, its really a Norman Rockwell kind of a place so you can't go wrong. Stop by,... the door is always open!

Breast Cancer Awareness

This past weekend we donated the Inn for the 3rd time to Sister's Hope. They come to our house every Fall & Spring to conduct a breast cancer survivor retreat. The retreat is open to 8 recent breast cancer survivors and they work thru an intense recovery program over the 3 day period. What is amazing are these women who have battled so much and have hearts so full of love that they make a difference in our lives...and our house. Please visit their site and see what they do and recommend them to someone you might know who is going thru the cancer struggle.
Sadly, many of us know someone who is battling cancer and this may be a way to help them thru their journey.

My friend, Mother Nature, has decided to let all of us know she is still the one in charge...and CHARGE is what she is doing today out on the water. 12 footers and still a bit warm.
